Christopher Bowes of FLAC has recently joined the AISSN Steering Group, which helps shape the workings and organisation of the Network.
Christopher is Policy & Public Affairs Manager at FLAC. He was called to the Bar of Ireland in 2020. As an independent law centre, FLAC frequently provides people with legal representation in the area of social welfare law. Many of these cases arise from its Roma Legal Clinic. FLAC’s experience providing legal assistance informs its policy and law reform recommendations. FLAC is a member of the Department of Social Protection’s Migrant Consultative forum.
Christopher and Eilis Barry (FLAC’s Chief Executive) will appear before the Oireachtas Social Protection Committee next Wednesday, 18 June at 9:45am to discuss the Social Welfare (Bereaved Partner’s Pension) Bill 2025. The 2025 Bill will give effect to the Supreme Court decision in the O’Meara case (in which FLAC represented the O’Meara family).
